Lansing man charged with stabbing roommate while in Carol Stream
A Lansing man faces domestic battery charges after he was accused of stabbing his roommate in the arm during a dispute in Carol Stream, police said.
The charges against Vincent K. Simmons, 62, stem from a Sunday night altercation that left his roommate with two "cut tendons" in the forearm, according to police and court records. Simmons and the man live together in Lansing, police said.
Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing on the 600 block of Gundersen Drive about 9:39 p.m. Police said they found Simmons, his roommate and two witnesses sitting in a van in a parking lot.
According to witnesses, a dispute erupted between Simmons and his roommate, and Simmons suddenly began cutting the man's arm with what they thought was a box cutter, police said. It wasn't immediately clear why they were in Carol Stream.
The man was taken to Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Simmons was taken into custody and charged with two counts of domestic battery.
He posted 10% of his $15,000 bail to be released from DuPage County jail at 10:45 a.m. Monday.
His next court date is June 15.
