Mount Prospect adds former Dist. 300 leader to finance commission

Mount Prospect Mayor Arlene Juracek announced the appointment this week of former Algonquin-based Community Unit District 300 Superintendent Kenneth Arndt to the village's finance commission.

Arndt served as District 300 superintendent from 2001 to 2011, then as interim superintendent in Elgin Area School District U-46 from 2014 to 2017.

Juracek said Arndt is a newcomer to the community but "far from a newcomer to the kind of work and expertise that's needed here."

She said Arndt brings a fresh and informed view to the commission.

"We know how many of our financial discussions, including those about the (tax increment financing district), always tend to go back to what is the impact on the schools," she said. "And I think Mr. Arndt can lend some valued perspective for us, as we shape our finance plan and our taxing strategy going forward."
