Pingree Grove man charged with burglary to motor vehicle

A Pingree Grove man was arrested and charged with felony burglary to a motor vehicle, officials said.

Diamante Parker, 21, of the 2300 block of Upland Drive, was arrested after police were called at 2:20 a.m. Thursday after a resident saw Parker enter a parked, unlocked vehicle and search through its contents, Pingree Grove police said.

According to police, officers arrived to find Parker still in the vehicle with items from it in his pocket. Police Chief Shawn Beane declined to say what the items were.

Parker was taken into custody at gunpoint without further incident, Beane said.

Parker appeared in Kane County bond court Thursday and was released on his own recognizance, Kane County officials said.

Police are continuing to investigate reports last week of burglaries to motor vehicles, one of which also included a report of a home burglary, to determine if there is any connection, Beane said.

Police encourage residents to keep their homes and vehicles locked and call 911 to report any suspicious activity.
