Barbecue grill sparks Naperville house fire

A charcoal barbecue grill sparked a house fire in Naperville late Thursday.

Naperville Fire Department officials say the grill caught the deck on fire at a house on the 2200 block of Keim Road.

The blaze traveled into the siding of the house and up to the attic.

Firefighters were dispatched at 11:40 p.m. and located the blaze in the back of the house.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke inside the home, officials said

Two residents and their two cats escaped without injury, and fire officials reported no injuries to firefighters.

The blaze was extinguished within 15 minutes.

There was no damage estimates to the house, but it was deemed habitable and the residents were allowed back inside for the night.
