Elgin man charged in DuPage County liquor thefts

Emmanuel J. Keyes, 37, of the 200 block of Raymond Street in Elgin, has been charged with retail theft, obstruction of identification and obstruction of service of process, according to DuPage County court records.

He is accused of stealing 15 bottles of Johnnie Walker Black Scotch; 21 bottles of Jack Daniels whiskey; and two Lildy women's tunics at 8:01 p.m. March 28 from the Jewel-Osco store at 2164 Bloomingdale Road, Glendale Heights. Authorities say he gave a false name to police, and then refused to answer questions about his current address and telephone number.

Bail was set at $25,000, and his next court date is April 3.
