Buffalo Grove extends disaster proclamation

Buffalo Grove village board members have approved a resolution extending the local disaster proclamation issued on March 17 by Village President Beverly Sussman.

The extension coincides with the disaster declaration issued by Gov. J.B. Pritzker issued March 9. Village Manager Dane Bragg said the governor's declaration is set to expire April 9.

"We do not have any direction at this time whether that disaster declaration will be extended, but based on current events it would be anticipated that this COVID-19 pandemic will extend beyond April 9," Bragg said.

Sussman's executive order of March 17 closing all village facilities and public lobbies other than the police department lobby remains in effect.

All public meetings have been canceled until further notice. Monday's village board meeting was held electronically on an emergency basis for the purpose of extending the disaster proclamation. Preparations are being made to hold the board's April 20 meeting electronically.
