Elmhurst College extends online learning through spring term

Elmhurst College will extend online instruction through the end of the spring term, officials said Friday.

"The safety of our students and employees is paramount, and the situation has progressed to the point where, unfortunately, this decision has become necessary," Elmhurst College President Troy D. VanAken said in an email sent to students, faculty and staff. In addition, the decision was made to ensure any students remaining on campus have time to make travel arrangements.

The campus remains open and is continuing to perform essential services and operations. Most employees have transitioned to working from home, and any employees on campus are adhering to social distancing and other safe practices. To date, the college has no reported cases of COVID-19.

All campus events and activities scheduled to take place between March 20 and the end of the spring term in mid-May have been canceled. A decision has not been made regarding commencement exercises.
