Polka standards draw a crowd in Libertyville

Eddie Korosa Jr. of Chicago has played his accordion at polka festivals in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France.

On Monday, he brought his music to Libertyville.

The Cook Memorial Public Library District and the Libertyville Senior Center hosted Korosa for an hourlong polka concert. The program, co-sponsored by rehabilitation facility Symphony Buffalo Grove, featured not only polka, but big band waltzes, swing, country and rock 'n' roll tunes.

Clapping and smiles filled the room as more than 140 attended the lively, foot-tapping show. Some audience members even showed off their skills on the dance floor.

Korosa has won many awards in his career, including being named Chicago's best polka entertainer in 2012. He also was part of actor John Candy's polka band, the Kenosha Kickers, in the 1990 movie "Home Alone."
