Lake County Goddard School preschoolers donate around 9,700 books for charity

Students from the four Goddard Schools in Lake County collected around 9,700 books in one month to donate to Bernie's Book Bank.

Goddards Schools is an early childhood education provider with more than 500 franchised schools.

The Lake County students who banded together to collect books were from the locations in Hawthorn Woods, Vernon Hills, Round Lake and Third Lake. In total the children from the 16 other Goddard Schools throughout Chicago collected 25,903 books.

Bernie's Book Bank is a nonprofit which collects, produces and gives books to at-risk youth in Chicago and the suburbs.

To help collect the books the Goddard School staff put on activities like book jamborees, classroom door decorating and more.
