Hanover Township hosts internet safety class for parents

The Hanover Township Department of Youth & Family Services and the Committee on Youth is hosting an Internet Safety for Youth session at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at the Township Senior Center.

Officer Ed Polaski of the Streamwood Police Department will give a prevention on youth social media usage, tips for identifying behavioral issues and go over trending online security concerns. The event is geared for parents and guardians of middle school students.

"The Committee on Youth feels strongly that parents need to be educated on the possible dangers of social media platforms that youth use on a daily basis," said Tina Houdek, the township's Director of Youth & Family Services. "This presentation will give parents the opportunity to learn how to prevent your child from involvement in unsafe online activity."

This is a free event. Registration is not required.

The senior center is at 240 S. Route 59 in Bartlett. For questions, call (630) 483-5799 or email yfs@hanover-township.org.
