Geneva man broke acquaintance's leg during fight, prosecutors say

A 43-year-old Geneva man has been accused of breaking two bones in an acquaintance's leg during a fight in early February.

Michael J. Conlee, of the 1200 block of Appleton Lane, surrendered to police on Wednesday and posted $500 bond after a warrant was issued for felony aggravated battery/causing great bodily harm and misdemeanor battery, according to Kane County prosecutors.

Conlee and the victim were at another person's home in Geneva in the early morning hours of Feb. 8 when an argument began, authorities said.

Conlee punched the man in the face, then grabbed him by the throat and pushed him to the ground, breaking two bones in the victim's right leg, prosecutors said.

He is next due in court on March 17. If convicted of the most severe charge, he faces a sentence ranging from probation to up to five years in prison.
