Fire damages Bartlett church; no injuries reported

Firefighters extinguished a blaze that began late Wednesday afternoon in the women's bathroom of a church on the 1500 block of Stearns Road in Bartlett.

The Bartlett Fire Protection district received the call at 5:25 p.m., and crews arrived on the scene at 5:31 p.m. to find smoke coming from the women's bathroom. The initial crews entered the building and put out the fire with an extinguisher. The entire bathroom and hallway was damaged by the fire.

Firefighters searched the smoke-filled building for any occupants and declared the fire under control at 5:51 p.m. No one was injured.

Damage estimates were not immediately available Thursday, as the fire remained under investigation.
