Authorities: Man hit 3 people during St. Charles bar fight

A Montgomery man has been arrested and faces four felony charges stemming from a St. Charles bar fight, Kane County prosecutors said Friday.

Brett R. Willing, 33, of the 3100 block of Fairfield Way, is accused of punching three people during a Jan. 19, fight at the Filling Station, 300 W. Main St.

Willing is charged with one count of aggravated battery/causing great bodily harm and three counts of aggravated battery in a public place, according to Kane County court records.

According to prosecutors, Willing was with friends at the bar when an argument broke out between his group and another group.

Willing struck three people in the head, including one while Willing was holding a glass, which shattered.

The victim was taken to a hospital where doctors removed the glass pieces from his head and stitches were required to close the cuts, according to prosecutors.

Willing is free on his own recognizance. He was in court briefly this week and is next due before a judge April 10.

Willing's defense attorney, Glenn Sowa, had no comment Friday.

If convicted of the most severe charge, Willing faces a sentence ranging from probation to up to five years in prison.
