Lincolnshire man faces five counts of child pornography possession

A grand jury has indicted a Lincolnshire man on five counts of child pornography possession.

According to court documents, Malay S. Vasavda, 47, of Robin Hood Court, possessed five digital images that depicted children under the age of 13 engaged in sexual acts. Each charge is a felony that carries a punishment of up to seven years in prison.

Vasavda was indicted Wednesday. He is set to be arraigned on the charges at a hearing March 5.

Vasavda, who is out on bail, was initially charged with three counts of child pornography possession in January. In a statement announcing those charges, Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul said investigators from his office, with the assistance of the Lincolnshire Police Department and the Lake County state's attorney's office, conducted a search of Vasavda's residence on Jan. 29.

"Child pornography exploits and victimizes children, and I will do everything in my power to support efforts to stop the spread of these horrible pictures and videos," Raoul said.
