Lake County deputy injured while breaking up fight in Beach Park

A Lake County sheriff's deputy was injured while trying to break up a fight earlier this month outside a Beach Park bar, the department announced Monday.

Lasonte M. Ruthertold, 30, of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, has been charged with resisting a peace officer and battery.

The officer, whose name was not released, was injured about 2 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, according to a news release.

The officer and her partner saw Ruthertold punching a woman inside a vehicle in a parking lot in the 37800 block of Sheridan Road, the news release said.

The officers removed the two women from the car and separated them. After they had been split up and tensions seemed to have calmed, Ruthertold shouted that she was going to beat the other woman and began charging at her, according to the news release.

The officer brought Ruthertold to the ground and in the process injured her knee.

Lake County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Chris Covelli said Monday that the officer was treated at a hospital that night and was able to resume duty after a few days off.
