Crystal Lake armed robbery suspect in custody
A 33-year-old Wisconsin man has been charged in connection with an armed robbery early Monday morning at a Crystal Lake gas station.
Joseph Hunter, of Clinton, faces a felony charge of aggravated robbery and misdemeanor theft, Crystal Lake police said.
Around 12:40 a.m., police were called to Circle K gas station at 220 Virginia St., where Hunter entered the store, implied he was armed with a handgun and demanded money from the cashier, police said.
He then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and headed east on foot from the gas station. No injuries were reported, police said.
Hunter was taken into custody by the Harvard Police Department after he was found in possession of a vehicle that had been reported stolen to Crystal Lake police around 6:05 a.m. Monday. He matched the description of the suspect in the Circle K gas station robbery and was transferred to Crystal Lake's jurisdiction, police said.
Hunter will be held at McHenry County Jail pending a bond hearing later Monday, police said.
