Waukegan armed robbery reports

Waukegan police say they are investigating armed robbery reports at two businesses Jan 18. The first call was about 8 p.m. at the Hoagie Hut, in the 2800 block of Grand Avenue, where an employee told officers two men attempted to rob the business at gunpoint, but fled on foot without taking anything. About 9 p.m. at Quickstop Food, in the 600 block of Greenwood, an employee said two men robbed the business at gunpoint and fled on foot. Police are not releasing the amount of money or type of property taken in that robbery. In both calls, the suspects are described as average height and weight, and one was carrying a handgun. Police say they are investigating the robberies independently. Anyone with information is asked to call the Waukegan Police Department's "Tip-Line" at (847) 360-9001.
