Fugitive arrested in Waukegan

A fugitive from New York was arrested Thursday in Waukegan by the Lake County sheriff's warrants team and U.S. marshals, police announced.

Eduardo Gutierrez, 21, of New Rochelle, New York, was charged in a fugitive warrant with criminal possession of a firearm, bail jumping and conspiracy second-degree drug sales.

He fled New York and had been staying in Waukegan.

When arrested, Gutierrez was armed with a semi-automatic pistol, police said.

He's now facing additional charges in Illinois of possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and being a fugitive from justice.

Gutierrez is held at the Lake County jail pending a Jan. 22 court appearance, police said.
