The third and possibly most extravagant musical yet put on by Carl Sandburg Middle School students ran through its last colorful dress rehearsal Wednesday in Mundelein.

There are so many cast and crew members in "The Lion King Jr.", they have to squeeze on the stage for a photo. Many actors perform among the audience during the show.

Like the main character Simba, the actors themselves are coming of age.

"Some of them have been in all three now, and it's been great to see them grow," Director Moulee Gupta says of the 45 young actors and 25 crew members.

The elaborate costumes have been rented from a New York theater company. Some require more than one actor to bring to life.

"The Lion King Jr." will be presented at the Lincoln Early Learning Center, 200 W. Maple Ave. in Mundelein. Performances are 7 p.m. Friday, 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12 at www.csmsmusical.weebly.com.
