Aurora man sentenced to 20 years for sexually assaulting child

A 36-year-old Aurora man has agreed to a 20-year prison sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, Kane County authorities said Monday.

Assistant State's Attorney Sarah Seberger said in court that Enrique Arce sexually assaulted the victim, who was younger than 13, between March and August 2018. She said Arce knew the child.

Arce, of the 1700 block of Hazelnut Lane, must serve at least 85% of his term. He will receive credit for the 527 days he has served in Kane County jail, where he has been held since his arrest in lieu of $1 million bail, authorities said. He also must register for life as a sex offender.

Kane County Associate Judge Charles Petersen accepted the plea.

"Mr. Arce is a child predator who took advantage of a young child for selfish purposes," Kane County State's Attorney Joe McMahon said in a written statement. "He's going to prison where he belongs and where he no longer will be a danger to children."
