Schaumburg High School to stage emergency drill Jan. 6

Members of the public are being advised that an extensive safety drill will take place Monday, Jan. 6, at Schaumburg High School, drawing a large number of police and fire vehicles and personnel to the parking lot of the building at 1100 W. Schaumburg Road.

The date was chosen because it is an institute day on which no students will be present.

In a letter sent to neighbors last week, Schaumburg High School Principal Tim Little explained that the drill will test and help improve emergency responses by using a simulated active-shooter crisis as its basis.

Signs will be posted along the perimeter of the campus to inform passersby that a drill is in progress.

Little's letter asks that any questions about the drill be directed to Assistant Principal Russell Cummings at (847) 755-4612.
