Mundelein High robotics team headed to state, national tournaments

Mundelein High School's robotics team will compete in state and national contests following a strong showing Saturday at a VEX Robotics Competition in Huntley.

The team's winning robot finished with a 5-2 record (sixth seed, eighth overall) against 30 other teams from 14 schools. The championship qualifies another robot to compete in the state championship in March.

Because of its accomplishments this season, the team also received an invitation to compete in a nationwide invitational at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Udvar Hazy Center in Virginia.

"Words can't express the admiration I have for the hours of work that our students have put in," said Manny Aldana, who coaches the team along with Andrew Hood.
