Socks donation drive in Arlington Heights, Elgin

Footprints to Recovery in Arlington Heights and Elgin is collecting socks for those in need this winter, with a goal of 10,000 pairs by Jan. 15.

The drug and alcohol treatment center is accepting donations for its third annual Socks of Love Campaign at its outpatient treatment facility at 3265 N. Arlington Heights Road, Suite 303, in Arlington Heights and its recovery home at 411 W. River Road in Elgin.

Those who have gone through the center's treatment programs will deliver the first round of socks on Tuesday, Dec. 17, to Care For Real, First Lutheran Church of Trinity and the Jesse Brown VA Community Resource and Referral Center in Chicago.

Organizers say socks are the least donated item to homeless shelters. Virtual donations can also be made online at footprintstorecovery.com/socks-of-love.
