Elgin police investigating armed robbery
Elgin police are searching for two men accused of robbing a business at gunpoint early Friday.
Officers responded about 12:37 a.m. to the 1300 block of East Chicago Street, where the suspects - one of whom was armed with a gun - entered the establishment and battered two clerks, according to a statement on the police department's Facebook page.
The men took an undisclosed amount of money and left the business, officials said. They were last seen driving north on Shales Parkway.
Neither clerk was seriously injured.
An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 847-289-2600 or text a tip to 847411 with "ElginPD" included at the beginning.
