State representative from Schaumburg encourages warming center use

State Rep. Michelle Mussman of Schaumburg is encouraging people to visit community warming centers throughout the cold winter months if they do not have adequate heating in their homes.

She said officials at Schaumburg Township encourage residents to take advantage of their warming center at 1 Illinois Blvd. in Hoffman Estates from 8:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday.

"Chicago-area winters can be brutal, and when the weather gets colder, our heating bills get higher," Mussman said. "The extra financial burden on hardworking families during the winter months can lead to people putting themselves in danger to try and keep the bills manageable. That's why these warming centers are so important."

Mussman represents the 56th House District, which includes parts of Schaumburg, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Bartlett, Hanover Park, Palatine, Rolling Meadows and Roselle.
