Lincolnshire to ban marijuana businesses

The Lincolnshire village board will meet Monday to approve a ban on businesses that grow, process or sell marijuana to recreational users. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at village hall, 1 Olde Half Day Road.

Starting Jan. 1, anyone 21 or older in Illinois can possess up to 30 grams of cannabis, 5 grams of cannabis concentrate and 500 milligrams of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. State-licenses growing, cultivated and sales facilities will be allowed, too. But individual communities can restrict or ban cannabis-related businesses.

The board publicly debated the issue in October.
