Hear the story behind famous holiday songs

Music historian Charles Troy will present the intriguing backstories of Christmas songs, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Cook Park Library, 413 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville.

Using a multimedia presentation, Troy will explain the story behind immortal holiday standards during the World War II era. Most were written between 1942 and 1952 in a burst of activity inspired by the success of Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" and came into existence in various and surprising ways.
