Elgin man faces child porn charges

A 21-year-old Elgin man faces charges of possession and dissemination of child pornography after an investigation by Elgin police into an online file sharing network.

Alexander Quezada was ordered held on $5,000 bail Wednesday. As a condition of bond, Quezada is prohibited from contact with minors, but can have supervised contact with his child, said Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Jennifer Gates. Quezada is also prohibited from accessing the internet, computers and cellphones, Gates said.

While conducting an investigation into an online file sharing network, Elgin police detected an internet provider address that had been previously flagged as containing child pornography, Gates said.

On Aug. 12, police obtained from that IP address images of children under age 13 engaged in sexual acts or poses, Gates said. On Tuesday, police executed a search warrant at Quezada's residence where they found numerous images and videos containing child pornography, Gates said.

Quezada next appears in court on Dec. 27.
