Waukegan firefighters rescue man from burning building

Waukegan firefighters rescued a man from a fiery apartment building Sunday evening, according to a news release Monday. Fire crews responded to the blaze on the 700 block of Linden Street just after 5:30 p.m. and found flames coming from one of the four units in the building. While others fought to contain the fire, some firefighters rushed into the unit and grabbed the man, who was not identified by authorities. The man was rushed to Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan and remains in critical condition, according to the Waukegan Fire news release. The fire, which caused an estimated $40,000 in damage to the building, is under investigation.
