Free throw challenge on tap Saturday in North Chicago

Area first responders will go head to head in a "First Responders Free Throw Challenge" fundraiser to benefit North Chicago's Shop with a Cop program on Saturday, Nov. 30. The event is 1 to 4 p.m. at Neal Math and Science Academy, 1905 Argonne Drive, North Chicago. Participating departments include North Chicago police and fire departments, College of Lake County Police, Gurnee Police Department, and Nicasa. Each will enter a five-person team for the friendly competition. The team with the highest cumulative point total will earn bragging rights and the traveling trophy. "The First Responder Free Throw Challenge is a fun and unique way to get all first responders involved for a good cause," North Chicago Police Chief Lazaro Perez said. "Shop with a Cop is a program the entire department gets behind. Each year, we seek new ideas to help fund the event."
