New Schaumburg library trustee sworn in

The Schaumburg Township District Library's board of trustees this week swore in its newest member, 30-year Schaumburg resident Erin Flannigan-Davies.

Flannigan-Davies was the unanimous choice of existing trustees to fill the vacancy created when Gerald Bromley moved out of the district this summer.

"I love all the library has to offer," Flannigan-Davies said in a written statement. "I'm looking forward to serving our community and being a good steward of our taxpayer money as a trustee of this wonderful library."

Board President Anita Forte-Scott also made a statement about the appointment.

"Operating with a full board contingent is very important as each person fulfills a great responsibility and also provides representation of all the patrons of the library district," Forte-Scott said. "We're ready to move forward with future library endeavors, confident that Erin will nicely complement the current contingent of board members."

Flannigan-Davies' appointed term will expire in April 2021.

Among the library board's upcoming tasks is to identify and hire a new executive director to replace Monica Harris, who is leaving next month to become associate executive director of Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) that serves most libraries in the northern half of the state.

An interim executive director is expected to serve during the monthslong nationwide search.
