Ides of March performing at Elk Grove's tree-lighting ceremony Nov. 29

The Ides of March featuring Jim Peterik will help Elk Grove Village usher in the holiday season with a performance during the village's tree-lighting ceremony.

The event is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, on the Village Green, located behind the Charles J. Zettek Municipal Complex, 901 Wellington Ave.

Following the performance, the band will join Mayor Craig Johnson in throwing the switch to light up the holiday tree and turn on more than 250,000 lights around the municipal complex, Elk Grove Public Library and the Elk Grove Park District Pavilion.

A fireworks display will follow the tree lighting, announcing the entrance of Santa and his elves. Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided.

The village thanks the Skroko family for donating their Colorado Blue Spruce tree to serve as this year's holiday tree, as well as the Lions and Leo Clubs and Elk Grove Village CERT members for volunteering their time and services to support the event.
