Railroad crossing to close next week in downtown Barrington

Barrington officials say a closure of Route 59/Hough Street at the Union Pacific Railroad tracks used by Metra trains in the village's downtown is scheduled for next week.

The railroad crossing shutdown is set from 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18 through 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, to accommodate emergency track repairs. The original plan called for the work to start Tuesday and end Thursday.

Officials said traffic will be rerouted to Lake-Cook Road and Northwest Highway next week. Drivers are asked to avoid the area during the railroad crossing shutdown, if possible.
