South Barrington town hall meeting Thursday on national veterans cemetery proposal

South Barrington Mayor Paula McCombie will host a town hall session Thursday night regarding a plan for a national veterans cemetery in the village. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' plan to acquire 15 acres on the southwest corner of Mundhank and Freeman roads for a columbarium cemetery to serve the Chicago area has drawn concerns about traffic, noise and the suitability of the property. The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at South Barrington village hall, 30 S. Barrington Road. McCombie plans to provide an update on the VA process and receive feedback from those in attendance. McCombie has encouraged the VA to look elsewhere in South Barrington. The VA has issued a revised environmental assessment of the plan and is soliciting public comment until Nov. 18,
