Ken Jochum appointed as new Wheeling Township trustee

Ken Jochum of Arlington Heights has been appointed to fill the Wheeling Township board seat left vacant by the departure of Brian Medley.

Medley, a practicing doctor of osteopathic medicine, resigned last week because he is moving out of the township to be closer to his patients and the hospital where he works, officials said.

Jochum, who was the elected township collector from 2009 until 2013 when the position was eliminated countywide, will serve the remainder of Medley's term through spring 2021.

Jochum has been on the township's agency funding advisory committee since 2008 and is a frequent moderator for the annual town meeting. He was first deputy in the office of Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak from 2010 to 2017.
