Suspects sought in Beach Park armed robbery

Lake County Sheriff's police are searching for two suspects wanted in connection with an armed robbery Tuesday night at a convenience store in Beach Park.

Deputies were called to the 7-Eleven, 37763 North Green Bay Road, at about 9:50 p.m. in response to reports that at least two men had just robbed the business, authorities said.

A preliminary investigation shows two robbers, described as black men between 18 and 20 years old, standing about 5'07" to 5'09" tall and both wearing hooded sweatshirts, entered the store, approached the clerk and asked for change. One of the men then showed a semi-automatic pistol and demanded money from the cash register, according to the sheriff's office.

An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen, along with cigarettes, before the robbers left on foot, authorities said. A police dog followed the suspects' trail to the area of Northern Avenue and Yorkhouse Road in Beach Park, where the offenders likely entered a vehicle, sheriff's police said.

The case remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division. Anyone who recognizes either of the suspects is encouraged to call sheriff's investigators at (847) 377-4147 or Lake County Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222.
