Krishnamoorthi receives award from veterans:

U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi has received an award from the National Gathering of American Indian Veterans thanking him for his support of the organization and its efforts to care for those who have served the United States.

"It is my honor to participate in the National Gathering of American Indian Veterans and I am humbled to receive their commendation," said Krishnamoorthi, a Democrat from Schaumburg. "By providing a network of support for native and nonnative veterans, the National Gathering of American Indian Veterans is giving this important community a voice. It is a privilege to give back to those who have dedicated themselves to the safety and security of our nation."

The National Gathering provides veterans an opportunity to connect with other Native American vets, policymakers, military officials and service providers.

Krishnamoorthi's 8th Congressional District is roughly centered in Schaumburg and includes parts of northwest Cook, northeast DuPage and northeast Kane counties.
