Search continues for driver in fatal DuPage hit-and-run

Nearly a month has passed since an unknown driver struck and killed 59-year-old Glen Ellyn resident Robert J. Szabo at an intersection near Lombard, and the DuPage County sheriff's office again is asking the public for help in identifying the motorist.

Authorities on Friday released a second photo - this one blurry - of the driver and vehicle believed to have struck Szabo as the Glen Ellyn man attempted to cross through the intersection.

Investigators are searching for the white Ford F-250 truck with yellow overhead cab lights.

The crash occurred just after midnight Aug. 30 at Roosevelt Road and Addison Avenue.

Witnesses told police the driver, who is believed to be a white man between the ages of 40 and 50, struck Szabo and fled east on Roosevelt Road.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or knows the driver's identity should call the sheriff's office at (630) 407-2400.

Authorities also are urging the driver to turn himself in to any law enforcement agency.
