North Aurora man suspected in rash of car burglaries

A North Aurora man is suspected of several car burglaries in town and surrounding communities, authorities said.

About 7:25 a.m. Wednesday, a resident reported someone entering cars on the 500 block of East Victoria Circle in North Aurora, the police department said in a news release.

Officers said they found 19-year-old Misael Bautista nearby at Oak Street and Randall Road. Bautista, of the 500 block of Cherrywood Drive, was charged with burglary and criminal trespass to vehicle.

He's suspected in several other car burglaries over the past six months, according to police, who said they are investigating four vehicle burglary and three criminal damage to vehicle cases from Wednesday alone. All the vehicles were unlocked, the news release said.

Police said they recovered shoes, wallets, electronics and watches taken during earlier thefts.

Other victims and anyone with information about the burglaries should call police at (630) 897-8705, ext. 610.
