Palatine Township programs to provide for needy during holidays

Palatine Township will provide four major outreach programs this fall and winter to assist those in need, and residents can help out through donations.

The programs include Adopt-A-Family, through which individuals, families, clubs, organizations and businesses can help a family experience a more joy-filled holiday season through donations of new clothing, toys and gifts for the holiday season. Online donor registration begins Friday, Sept. 20.

Online donations for the Thanksgiving Baskets program begins Friday, Oct. 18. Donors can register to bring a basket of nonperishable foods in a laundry basket, along with a $25 gift card, to be distributed for Thanksgiving.

Angel Trees Christmas trees will soon be located in the Palatine Township Center foyer and decorated with handmade angel ornaments which include a 'gift wish list' from in-need children or senior citizens, along with their first name and age. Those interested in selecting an ornament can visit the township starting Friday, Nov. 1.

And the township will conduct a toy drive throughout the month of December. Donors can drop off unwrapped new toys at the Palatine Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Road in Palatine.
