Palatine police release results from special traffic campaign

Palatine police have released the results of a traffic safety crackdown that occurred from m Aug. 16 through Sept. 3. Police issued 67 seat belt citations, 15 speeding tickets and seven illegal use of cellphone while driving distracted citations.

There also were three drug arrests, one arrest on a fugitive warrant and 25 other traffic-related citations during the special enforcement period.

The Labor Day "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign was funded by federal highway safety funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and managed through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
