Naperville firefighters quickly extinguish basement fire

No injuries were reported from a small basement fire in Naperville Friday night that firefighters say was caused by an "improperly ventilated electrical charging system."

Residents of the house on the 2200 block of Salisbury Drive on the city's south side reported smoke coming from the basement when they alerted the fire department at 10:15 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke coming out of the front door and extinguished the blaze within 10 minutes of arrival. Firefighters spent about an hour on scene performing salvage and ventilation operations.

The house was deemed habitable by the city and the residents were allowed to return.
