Lake County gets top bond rating

Lake County again has been awarded AAA bond ratings, the highest possible, by credit rating agencies Standard & Poor's Financial Services and Moody's Investors Service. The top rating keeps borrowing costs low, county officials say, and will result in a $7 million savings during the next nine years on bonds for transportation projects that have been reissued at lower rates to be paid to investors. The savings means projects that are not fully-funded, including reconstruction of Arlington Heights Road in Buffalo Grove and Hainesville Road in Round Lake Park and Round Lake Beach, may be able to advance, according to the county. According to S & P, it has awarded a AAA rating to only about 3% of all counties nationwide.
