Schaumburg police seek help identifying vehicle, driver after boy on bike hit

Schaumburg police are seeking the public's help in identifying a vehicle and its driver that were involved in a collision with a boy on a bicycle last month.

The collision occurred Saturday, July 27, about 3:30 p.m. near 1000 N. Walnut Drive.

The bicyclist was traveling through a crosswalk on Walnut Drive when he was struck by a silver Mercedes-Benz SUV heading south, police said.

Though the driver and passenger stopped to assist the bicyclist and escorted him home, they did not provide vehicle or contact information with him.

The bicyclist suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.

The vehicle is described as a silver Mercedes-Benz ML350 with possible damage in the front end area on the driver's side. The license plate number is not known.

Schaumburg police additionally released three camera images of the vehicle and its occupants.
