Lake Zurich seeking volunteers to help collect shoes

The village of Lake Zurich is seeking volunteers to empty collection bins and sort shoes for recycling. The village is partnering with the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County. The agency estimates 85% of old shoes end up in landfills, according to a social media post by the village of Lake Zurich. By having collection bins, old shoes can instead be recycled. Those interested in volunteering, as an individual or as a group, such as a Girl or Boy Scout troop, are encouraged to email Kyle Kordell, the assistant to the village manager, at Kyle.Kordell@LakeZurich.org.
