ComEd to donate new golf cart to Lake Zurich Fire Department

ComEd will buy a golf cart for the Lake Zurich Fire Department for use at large events and to help cover the more than 800 acres of Lake County Forest Preserve land in Lake Zurich, the energy provider announced Wednesday.

The golf cart also will improve the department's response time to patients who may be difficult to access, according to ComEd.

The gift was one of 25 grants ComEd is giving to municipalities across the state through the ComEd Powering Safe Communities Program. From digital messaging and speed notification signage to cameras that help locate victims in danger, the projects address critical safety needs in the communities ComEd serves.

ComEd has collaborated with the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, a council for Chicagoland's chief elected officials, to select where to give grants.
