Lake Co. treasurer offers financial literacy classes

Lake County Treasurer Holly Kim's office will partner with First Midwest Bank and Crystal Lake nonprofit Restoration America to host a free financial literacy class for county residents Thursday, Aug. 1.

The class, titled "Keep It Safe," will be held at the University Center of Lake County from 5 to 7 p.m. The class is one of a series in financial literacy the three entities will host this year. Others are set for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 5, and 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, both at the University Center.

Kim said one of her goals is to raise awareness about the importance of financial education such as knowing how to make a budget and living within your means.

The classes are free. The University Center is at 1200 University Center Drive in Grayslake next to the College of Lake County campus.
