Driver cited for left turn after Elk Grove crash

A 17-year-old Elk Grove boy was cited for improper lane use Sunday after a late-afternoon crash at the intersection of Meacham and Nerge roads in Elk Grove Village that injured another driver. The 61-year-old Itasca man driving the other vehicle was treated at the scene for non-incapacitating injuries, police said.

The collision occurred at 6:10 p.m. when the Chrysler Town and Country minivan driven by the 17-year-old that was headed north on Meacham Road turned left toward westbound Nerge Road, into the path of the Jeep Wrangler headed south, driven by the Itasca man.

After the crash, the intersection was blocked for about 40 minutes, largely due to the treatment of the injured Itasca man, Elk Grove Village Deputy Police Chief Michael Gaspari said.

The driver and two juvenile passengers of the Chrysler Town and Country were not injured, he added.
