CLC professor wins state award

Maria Jose Tenuto, a College of Lake County adjunct sociology professor. was named the state's 2019 Outstanding Adjunct Faculty of the Year by the Illinois Community College Trustees Association. Tenuto, who received the award at a June 7 awards banquet in Springfield, is the first CLC adjunct to receive the honor. In May, she received CLC's 2019 Outstanding Part-Time Faculty award, based on student votes. Tenuto, who began teaching at CLC in 1998, teaches Introduction to Sociology as well as Being Different: The Sociology of Deviant Behavior. She also has taught noncredit courses for the Discovery program designed for residents age 50 and older
