Mount Prospect Sister Cities Commission hosting Bastille Day celebration

Mount Prospect's Sister Cities Commission is hosting a Bastille Day celebration dinner July 14, at the newly renovated Old Orchard Country Club.

Commission Chair Robert Usnik said the goal of the dinner is to spread awareness of the commission and the village's relationship with its sister city of Sèvres, France. The deputy French consul general is expected to attend.

"We're trying to make this as traditional as possible," said Usnik, adding that between 100 and 180 people are expected to attend.

Mount Prospect and Sèvres became sister cities in May 2000, when a delegation from the Paris suburb first visited the village.

Tickets for the dinner are $65 and must be purchased in advance online at www.eventbrite.com/e/mount-prospect-sister-cities-bastille-day-celebration-dinner-tickets-61803385590.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a cocktail hour, followed by dinner at 6 p.m., with the fare including salmon and filet mignon, as well as French onion soup. The Tri-Tone Jazz Trio and Gypsy Jazz by Di Arte Entertainment will provide music.
